The YWS Foundation is pleased to support the research and publication projects of GYOPO, a Los Angeles-based non-profit art organization. GYOPO has been dedicated to expanding the global presence of Korean diaspora artists and building multidisciplinary discourses.

The first book supported by the foundation, Liminal Figures, features in-depth interviews with 15 artists and collectives who operate beyond fixed categories across geographical and linguistic boundaries. It was successfully published last June. To celebrate the book's transnational significance, a relay launch program is being held across three cities. Following successful events in Seoul on June 24 and Los Angeles on June 27, the final global dialogue is scheduled to take place in Berlin, Germany, on September 12.

The second upcoming book, Ring of Fire: Art of the Pacific Rim (scheduled for publication in 2027), is conceived based on a symposium involving Asian-Pacific American (API) diaspora artists and scholars. It aims to analyze the geopolitical history of the Pacific Rim—focusing on themes such as the environment, indigenous resistance, and militarization—through the lens of contemporary art for a global audience.

Through this publication support, the YWS Foundation hopes that the practices of diaspora artists will be documented as vital assets in global contemporary art history.
